What is the difference in a Facial Plastic Surgeon and a General Plastic Surgeon?
Facial plastic surgeons perform cosmetic and reconstructive surgery on the face, head, and neck regions only. Training includes one or two years of post-graduate training in general surgery residency and at least four additional years of specialty training in head and neck surgery and facial plastic surgery. Dr. Davis has also completed an additional fellowship in facial plastic surgery. A general plastic surgeon performs both face and body procedures. Training includes three to five years in general surgery residency and two years of specialty training in all body areas.
Is Doctor Davis Board Certified?
Dr. Davis is board certified by both the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery.
What forms of payment do you take?
We take Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discover, Personal Checks, Money Orders and Cash.
Do you take insurance?
Insurance does not cover elective procedures like cosmetic surgery. If there is a functional problem included with the cosmetic procedure, insurance may only cover the functional area that is diagnosed by the Doctor.
Do you offer financing?
Yes, we offer financing through Wells Fargo.
Do you have before and after pictures of previous patients?
Yes, we have many pictures available online of all procedures Dr. Davis performs, as well as extensive photo albums in our offices.
How many procedures can I have at the same time?
Multiple procedures are done at the surgeon’s discretion. Having multiple procedures performed at the same time is less expensive than having them performed individually. The benefit of doing multiple areas at one time is that you take advantage of the operating room. You have already paid for the majority of the anesthesia and hospital surgery center fees. Having the procedure performed separately means you have to pay for these expenses again. Also, doing all the procedures at one time requires only one vacation from work for recovery.
How long does the surgery take?
The length of surgery depends on the type of surgery you’re having. Minor surgical procedures can take less than two hours; more involved procedures can be longer. When you meet with Dr. Davis, he will be able to provide you with an estimate for how long you will be in the Operating Room. Of course, the pre-surgical check-in process, the induction of anesthesia, and the recovery time post-surgery also add to the length of the time you spend in our care.
Do I need anesthesia for facial plastic surgery?
Almost all plastic surgery procedures require some form of anesthesia. Depending on the type of procedure, the physician’s recommendation, your overall health, and your own preference, you may receive either local anesthesia, “twilight sleep” which is local anesthesia combined with IV sedation, or general anesthesia. The type of anesthesia will be discussed in detail with an anesthesiologist before surgery as part of the routine pre-surgical process. The anesthesiologist will be able to answer any questions or concerns you have about your anesthesia options at that time.
Where will my surgery be performed?
Dr. Davis performs his cosmetic surgical procedures in fully accredited outpatient surgery centers which specialize in cosmetic surgery. Most procedures are performed on an outpatient basis meaning that you go home the same day. However, with some procedures such as a Face Lift or Endoscopic Mid-face Lift, Dr. Davis may recommend an overnight stay at the surgery center or use of a visiting nurse to assist you for the first evening.
How long will it take for me to recover?
The recovery period depends upon the procedure performed and it varies from patient to patient. For certain procedures such as BOTOX® , Collagen, or Restylane injections there is no down time. With other procedures individuals can go back to their normal routine within a couple of days, and some procedures take a week or longer for individuals to recover.
How long will the results of the surgery last?
The answer depends on your age, your general health, the type of procedure, and a number of other environmental factors. The results of reconstructive procedures may remain for a lifetime, while the results of certain cosmetic procedures may last a decade. While there are no guarantees, Dr. Davis will be able to give you a rough estimate for how long you can expect the benefits of surgery to last.
